Why ‘The Graduate’ should be Required Viewing for Graduates

Last night I re-watched one of my favorite movies, ‘The Graduate’ with Dustin Hoffman.  I’ve always loved the movie for the time and place it was made.  Films like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Annie Hall share this same feel with amazing fashion design and a traditional stage style pacing and dialogue. ‘The Graduate’ is all of this plus a legendary sound track.  But last night I found a whole new side to the movie because now, I’m about to be a graduate.

My kids are going to laugh at this someday…..

After reading the first two paragraphs of the article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” by Nicholas Carr, I found myself reaching for my mouse to start the quick scroll through the article.  It was a little scary based on the content of the article.  Just as I finished reading that the reader found it hard to become immersed in the article, I found myself looking for a new subject to search.

Happy 100th birthday Mary Blair!!!

Mary Blair (October 21, 1911 - July 26, 1978), born Mary Robinson, was an American artist who was prominent in producing art and animation for The Walt Disney Company, drawing concept art for such films as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Song of the South and Cinderella.

First it occurred to me that I did not actually know what Mary Blair looked like then I realized that I always expected her to look like a tiny adorable storybook character, not a badass war veteran.

Happy Birthday, Mary Blair! She can beat you two ways to sideways with her slick-ass design skills, she is THAT amazing :D

(she kinda looks like the Bride from Kill Bill, yes? She was one of my biggest influences in school, I kinda went crazy when the Disney Family Museum had all the stuff from her Tokyo show. I bought all the things -_-;;)

THE BEST.
